Do Pets Love Their Owners?

Human beings spend billions annually all over the world on pet food, pet meals and pet insurance (especially in Europe and in the United States) They love us and we love all the more for taking care of us.

Humans are looking for concrete evidence if pet like us love them. If money is any indication (how they spend cash for pet insurance, pet grooming and pet toys) there’s no doubt we love the pet owners.

According to experts, there is clinical evidence that pet dogs, cats, horses, and even birds can love their owners. Humans provide their animal friends with necessities like food, water and shelter and they also pet us, play with us and cuddle us.

Studies have shown that presence or touch of a particular person reduces the heart rate of our furry brothers and sisters and some feathered friends. It is a clear sign of bonding. There is no doubt that we love our human friends and they love us back in return.

The article also narrates the signs of love dogs give to their pet owners like licking them, protecting them, wanting to be with them, being excited when they come home and loved being cuddled by them.

Cats, like me, display our affection by purring, following them, rubbing our heads against them, licking them, loved being cuddled by them, bringing presents like dead mice for them (prrrrrrrrrr) and by lying on our back to show our vulnerable bellies!

Meanwhile, horses show their fondness for a person by nuzzling and heighing sofly.

But not all pet animals are loving and can reciprocate the love the pet owners give. There are pet who are dominant, independent and aloof. For example, iguanas are solitary… They don’t need anybody. Some animals are highly sensitive and anxious. They can’t bare to be separated from their owner. Their love for the owners can be almost pathological and obsessive.

It is not unusual for loving pets like us to show signs of anxiety and depression in the absence of the pet owners. Their return should be enough to brighten the pet’s spirits. Pet meds are sometimes prescribed to combat separation anxiety. Behavioral training might also be beneficial. What’s important to remember is to show our love for the pet owners who so obviously love us.
