Beauty Bonding with your Daughter

Bonding activities with your child is boundless. Here are exciting ways to build a healthier relationships with the apple of your eyes- this time the venue is not the playground but right in your own bedroom. Kick back and enjoy some fun together with these giggly beauty ideas.

If you daughter is a pre-schooler, start with simple and fuss-free activities together. Little girls often love to have their hair brushed and braided. Take 15 minutes out of every day to do her hair- or save it for special occasions. You can make it sparkle with hair clips, headbands and even some sparkly spray from the drugstore (make sure they cover their eyes).

Once the child is three or four, pick out some wacky nail polish to paint he fingers and toes. Little girls love having her toes painted bright red or pink. You might as well enjoy it  together.

If your daughter is a grade-schooler, her schedule might be a  little bit hectic because of school work and activities. But you can steal some of those precious times with her to do activities with her. Create your own at-home hair salon. Have fun crimping or straightening your daughther’s hair or try a French braid. If she’s into it, try coloring your daugther’s hair with semi-permanent hair dye to surprise the other members of your family (be sure to read all the instructions) While you’re waiting for the dye to set, you could paint each other’s nails (or, you may choose to paint hers and yours) Put on some fun music and enjoy the time together.

If you’re not great at hair and nails yourself, visit a salon or spa that does both and get  a hair cut and your nails painted. When you’re done, go for lunch.

To look at beauty in a different way, take a nature walk and pick out things that are beautiful for unique reasons- flowers, animals, etc. Or take a stroll along busy downtown streets and find hidden beauty in the diversity of the city.

If your daughter belongs to the bracket we call tweens or teenager, why not pass on some of your beauty to help others in need? If you or your daughter has long hair, take a trip to your hair salon and have your stylish cut off your ponytails. Then donate the hair to a non-profit charity that makes wigs for kids who have lost their hair because of a medical condition. Or call a children’s hospital to see if you can spend the day with some young girls. Pack a bag of hair accessories, lipstick and costume jewelry and give it away to young girls in the hospital ward who are less fortunate.

If you need some rejuvenation and relaxation, plan a mother-daughter spa escape. You can relax the day away at a local spa. Enjoy a facial or massage and meet back in the steam room. Make a day of it and go for lunch afterwards. Or, pack your bags and head out for a weekend retreat.
